초록: 

이 연구는 최근 장애인복지실천 현장에서 이슈가 되고 있는 발달장애인의 도전적 행동지원에 관한 쟁점들을 살펴보고, 한국 장애인복지에의 함의를 제시하는데 그 목적이 있다. 이를 위해 도전적 행동에 대한 정의와 원인에 대한 관점, 실태, 제도적 및 실천적 맥락에서의 지원, 이에 따른 쟁점과전망에 대해 논의하였다. 이를 기초로 도전적 행동 지원에 대한 서비스제공자들의 관점 변화가 필요하며, 실천을 위한 교육의 체계화, 제도적 지원체계 마련 등이 필요함을 제시하였다. 이 연구는 도전적 행동에 대한 전반적인 이해 촉진과 후속연구에의 필요성을 제안하는 점에서 향후 관련 연구의기초자료로서 기여할 수 있을 것이다.

This study aims at examining challenging behaviors and their support which are heatedly debated in recent social work field practice for the disabled. To this end, this paper has provided the definition of challenging behaviors and different views on the causes, and it was followed by a discussion on how to improve the support system from systematic and practical perspectives. In addition, positive behavioral support, being often discussed in line with challenging behaviors, were reviewed to touch upon the similarities and the differences between the two. Based on this, ethical, practical, and systematic issues related to challenging behaviors of the people with developmental disabilities were reviewed and their implication to the future of social work practice for the disabled. The ultimate purpose of this study is to search for the methods of support for challenging behaviors shown by the people with developmental disabilities, and to propose the need of further research on this issue in the future.
