초록

본 연구의 목적은 정신장애인 동료지원가 경험 분석을 통해 역할과 정체성을 이해하는 것, 그리고 이에 영향을 미치는 요인들을 탐색적으로 분석하는 것에 있다. 이를 위해 정신장애인 당사자단체에서 활동하고 있는 동료지원가 6명을 대상으로 심층면접을 진행하여 현상학적 연구를 실시하였다. 분석결과, ‘정신장애인 당사자의 전반적인 삶에 영향을 주는 동료지원가’, ‘다양한 사회적 구조 및 환경 속에 위치한 동료지원가’, ‘경험의 힘에서 비롯되는 동료지원가의 정체성’, ‘개인적 삶에서 새로운 미래를 꿈꿀 수 있는 동료지원가 활동’이라는 4개의 핵심범주와 14개의 하위주제가 도출되었다. 동료지원가의 역할과 정체성에서 살아있는 경험의 공유, 경험적 지식, 동등한 관계 등은 핵심요소로 나타났다. 동료지원가는 경험전문가, 친구, 환자 등의 다양한 정체성이 공존할 수 있지만, 그들은 경험을 원동력으로 삼아 선순환적인 새로운 정체성을 향해 나아가는 것으로 나타났다. 연구결과를 바탕으로 한국형 동료지원서비스 활성화와 정착을 위한 실천적․정책적 함의를 도출하였다. 

The purpose of this study is to understand the role and identity of peer support worker through experience analysis and to explore the factors that affect it questingly. To this end, a phenomenological study was conducted by conducting in-depth interviews with six peer support workers who are active in a organizations for people with psychosocial disabilities. As a result of the analysis, 4 core categories of ‘peer support worker who influence the whole life of the people with psychosocial disabilities’, ‘peer support worker who are in various social structures and environments’, ‘Identity of peer support worker originated in the power of experience’, ‘peer support worker activities to help people with psychosocial disabilities dream of a new future in personal life’ and 14 sub-themes were derived. Sharing of lived experience, experience knowledge and horizontal relationship are seen as key factors in the role and identity of peer support worker. Although various identities such as experience experts, friends, and patients coexist as a peer support worker, It turns out that they are moving toward a new identity of a virtuous cycle by using experience as the driving force. Based on the results of the research, practical and policy implications were derived for the activation and settlement of Korean peer support services.
