연구의 목적은 발달장애인 부모 돌봄제공자의 돌봄 부담 수준을 살펴보고, 자녀의 장애정도 및 일상생활기능수준과 부모의 건강상태에 따라서 돌봄 부담이 달라지는지와 이러한 관계가 부모의 연령대별로 차이가 있는지를 고찰하는 것이다. 본 연구는 발달장애인 활동지원 욕구조사에 참여한 부모 돌봄제공자 689명을 대상으로 기술통계 분석 및 구조방정식 다중집단 분석을 실시하였다. 기술통계 분석결과 60세 이상 부모 돌봄제공자의 돌봄 부담, 우울수준, 건강우려 수준, 자녀의 장애정도가 상대적으로 높았고, 자녀의 수단적 일상생활기능(IADL) 제약이나 일상생활기능(ADL) 제약은 연령대에 따라 유의한 차이는 없었다. 구조방정식 분석결과 부모의 우울수준, 자녀의 IADL 제약과 ADL 제약 수준이 높을수록 돌봄 부담도 높게 나타났으나 부모의 건강상태나 자녀의 장애정도는 돌봄 부담에 유의한 영향을 나타내지 않았다. 연령에 따른 다집단분석 결과, 60세 미만에서 우울이 돌봄 부담에 주는 영향력이 60세 이상에서 보다 유의하게 크게 나타났지만, 나머지 부모특성 및 자녀특성 변수들과 돌봄 부담 간에는 연령대별로 유의한 차이가 없었다. 결과를 바탕으로 발달장애인 부모 돌봄제공자의 돌봄 부담 해소를 위한 전략과 이러한 전략의 연령대별 차이에 대한 이론 및 실천적 함의를 논의하였다.

This study aims to examine the careburdens of parents who care for their children with developmental disabilities. Specifically, this study examines whether parents’ health conditions and children’s disability characteristics affects careburdens and further examines whether these effects vary by age of parents. For these purposes, descriptive data analyses, structural equational modeling(SEM), and multi-group SEM between parents aged 60 and over and those 60 or less were performed involving 689 parent caregivers participated in the National Survey on Supportive Service Needs Assessment for Individuals with Developmental Disabilities. The results of descriptive analyses showed that the level of depressive symptoms and careburdens among caregivers aged 60 and over were significantly higher than that of parents aged 60 or less. The levels of children’s IADL and ADL constraints did not differ by age groups. The results of SEM revealed that parents with higher levels of depressive symptoms and those caring for children with more IADL/ADL constraints presented higher levels of careburdens. Finally, the results of multi-group SEM showed that the effect of depressive symptoms on careburdens among parents aged 60 or less were significantly stronger than that among parents aged 60 and over. The effects of parents physical health conditions or children’s disability characteristics did not differ by parents’ age. Based on these results, implications for addressing parents’ careburdens and strategies for age specific approaches were discussed in terms of theory and practice.
