Summary

Disability arises not only from medical conditions but also from the interactive relation between individuals and social factors
that restrict the choices and freedom of those individuals. In light of this change in perspective, the international forum discusses ways to actively reflect the preference and the choices of the people with mental illness when providing medical treatment and protection.

KCGAT Participation

Professor Inhwan Park leads the first two sections of the forum that focuses on the cases of Taiwan and Japan.

Professor Cheoulung Je highlights the importance of introducing a new systemic support in both providing psychological
comfort and suggesting best treatment option for the the person with mental illness in the decision making process.
